The new Design Technology Center (DTC) at Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. SAC), designed by HMC Architects, at 66,000 sqft, includes a 390-seat assembly space, exhibition gallery, model shop, and media labs for the various design-oriented departments including fashion-design, photography, graphic arts, architecture and interior design.
The two-story main entrance/atrium is spectacularly illuminated with D5 | accolade5 L-shaped patterns spanning across the wood slat paneled ceiling, seamlessly transitioning down into the brick wall. A second-story gallery and critique area showcases additional linear D5 rows in a clean white alucobond ceiling. D4 | accolade4 lights the corridors. The project has attained LEED Silver certification and, according to HMC, resulted in 18.2% above Title 24 (2005) efficiencies.
