The Children's Hospital of Denver, at 1.4-million-sqft, is the largest pediatric hospital in Colorado serving patients up to 19 years of age. Situated on 48 acres of the University of Colorado Health Science Center (UCHSC) Fitzsimmons campus, the new hospital was a true collaborative effort among H+L Architects, design architect Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Architects (ZGF); and lighting designer Francis Krahe and Associates (FKA).
The hospital décor uses color, artwork, and natural light to promote healing and comfort. A-Light's A4 | arcature was applied throughout the space, wall mounted along corridors on every floor illuminating the brightly-colored walls, while 6ft fixtures were placed as task lighting in each patient registration space adjacent to the natural light-filled atrium.
