111 North Canal was originally constructed in 1918 as one of two identical warehouses for the Butler Brothers Company, a mail order business. Today, the building has been transformed into a multi-tenant office building. The 16-story, concrete building, located in the West Loop of Chicago’s business district, was recently in need of a renovation that would include all the modern necessities, while preserving the vintage charm of this historic building. On the new lobby level, recessed D5 | accolade5 LED fixtures span the ceiling and elevator areas, in a stunning L-shaped pattern. In the boardroom, LED D3 | accolade3 fixtures are span-mounted across the space, highlighting the unique, exposed brick ceiling. The modern fixtures, juxtaposed with the original brick, create a brilliant way to preserve the historical beauty of the building, while also achieving an LEED Gold certification. The updated lobby and boardrooms, along with rooftop amenity rooms, improved tenant common areas, and updated building systems, produce a wonderful space to work and play in the heart of Chicago’s business district.
